What’s “Laidy Mondegreen” all about?
A mondegreen is when you mishear something, as in the famous “scuse me while I kiss this guy” from Hendrix’s Purple Haze.
The phrase Lady Mondegreen, and the term mondegreen, comes from the following section of “The Bonny Earl of Murray”:
Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl O’ Moray,
And Lady Mondegreen. (And laid him on the green.)
The spelling “Laidy” comes from my own perverse desire to link the correct and incorrect interpretations.
Who are you, anyhow?
I’ll never tell! No, seriously. Although you can probably figure out a lot about me from this blog, and although people from my real life could probably find it if they wanted to, I couldn’t be quite as honest if I knew anyone and everyone was poking around here. [Hi Mom!]
Who’s Buzzy?
Buzzy is my husband. He’s your basic super-sexy geek. So basically Superman. You can picture Superman when I mention him, and you won’t be far off.
What’s up with the protected posts?
Sometimes I write things that are particularly personal or hard to talk about. While I’m willing to share my life with almost anyone, I feel a little better sticking those particular posts behind a password. If you want the password, you can email me at strongtogether @ gmail dot com, and I’ll most likely give it to you.
